Week 10 Lab: TV Tropes
Race Against the Clock
- "the villain's plot is time sensitive" similar to Yudhishthira's time constraint once Chitragupta enters the Bad Place.
So You Want to Write an Action Movie
- Action movies tend to involve a lot of combat, which is not really Yudhishthira's style, so this wouldn't be classified as an action story.
- Damsel in Distress element is part of the story where Draupadi wants comfort while she is in hell. This character often ends up being a flat character.
- Ways to solve this are to add some details in description and more distinct character traits
Thriller:
Cliffhangers
- Thrillers marked by frequent location changes, time shortage, cliffhangers.
- Cliffhangers need to be specific enough that it holds reader's interest
- Modern thrillers border horror and science fiction
The Reveal
- Character revealed as another character's father
- Un-Reveal where a reveal is set up but not fulfilled can be used with a cliffhanger
- Often the Almost Dead Guy does a reveal, staying alive just long enough to give the info
- elaborate conspiracy theory as background
- Although the Bad Place isn't exactly a conspiracy, this plot progression seems most on form for my storybook genre.
- It is somewhat trippy, and Yudhishthira suspects something is off.
- The intro and first story definitely fit this format.
