Week 2 Reading Overview

Week 2 Reading Overview

I will be reading the Public Domain Edition of Ramayana mostly because this version is free, but also because I like the audio component and that it has illustrations and combines different styles from various authors.

Comic Books
I have always been interested in creation stories from different traditions, so the Stories of Creation comic definitely caught my eye. Ravana Humbled: An Arrogant King Finds New Friends also sounds interesting because the title makes it seem like there is a good life lesson about being humble in this story. I am more interested in the Deva/Devi stories than the other categories. I recognized Ganesha from my Intro to Religious Studies class a few years ago where we briefly discussed the symbolism of the images of Ganesha as an elephant and how the things Ganesha is holding in the images represent elements of the stories, so I would be interested in reading Ganesha: The Remover of All Obstacles

Videos
Since I am interested in creation myths, I enjoyed the creation story videos, including:

I was also interested in the philosophical/theological videos like:
The information in these videos reminded me a lot of what I learned about Buddhism in my Intro to Buddhism class, so it was interesting to see similarities and differences between Buddhism and Hinduism.
