Time Strategies

I read the article, The Important Habit of Just Starting by Jory Mackay. I knew this would be relevant to me because I am a serial procrastinator and often times the biggest challenge I face in a daunting assignment is starting it. The article mentioned that chronic procrastinators have "temporal myopia," which is being unable to see into your future, which is also a trait of Enneagram type 9s who tend to focus on the past because it is more comfortable that focusing on the unknown future.

The other article I read was Eat the Frog First Thing in the Morning by Thomas Oppong. I really like the strategy to finish unwanted tasks first thing in the morning because in my past experience this is what works best for me in scheduling school work since I tend to be busier and more social at night, and often more tired after a long day. The to-do list mentioned in this article is very helpful because I am pretty bad at prioritizing what I actually need to do. Typically if I have a loaded plate of things to do, I will do the easiest things first and leave the tougher ones for later, which inevitably puts me in a bad position to finish the harder tasks. I used to say in high school that I work better under pressure, and I think that being an active procrastinator worked for me in high school, but became troublesome in college.
